When you adopt a rescue dog you won't change the world but you will change the world for the dog you adopt.
When you have been matched with your dog we are happy to reserve him or her. However, we can now only reserve a dog for 2 weeks.
We want to help as many dogs as possible and if the kennels are full of dogs who already have their home, it blocks the space for all the lovely deserving dogs who are waiting to join us. Consequently, when prospective forever people visit there aren't any dogs for them to be matched with. We appreciate your support and understanding - it helps us help as many dogs as possible.

Viper
Greyhound - Male - 19 Months (Aug 2023)
Viper is an affectionate young dog looking for a loving home where he can continue to grow and learn. He is loving life at the rescue, making new friends, being fussed over and just generally living his best life. He is yet to find out that things will get better still when he has his own person/people and sofa to chill out on. Viper loves new experiences and every walk is an enjoyable new adventure. He’s a friendly boy who adores his favourite people, food and treats. Viper is happy friendly boy who will make anyone's life happier. Viper is ready for his next adventure out into the world and to experience being someone's dog.

Oreo
Greyhound - Male - 3 years (May 2021)
Oreo is gentle sweet boy who loves a cuddle and lots of fuss from his people. His other favourite things are his food and nice walk. After a walk, Oreo likes to cuddle up in a comfy spot and relax for the rest of the day. He is going to love taking his spot on the sofa in his new forever home. Oreo doesn't ask for much out of life but has so much love to give, all he needs is a chance. Will you be that special person who gives Oreo his chance to be your dog?

Cookie
Greyhound - Male - 4 years (12/12/20)
Cookie has joined us and is on the lookout for sofa to snuggle up on in a home of his own. He enjoys being around his friends both human and doggy. Cookie is a sweet, clever boy who has adapted well to coming into the rescue. He behaves well in his kennel, he is clean and chilled out, and he is equally well mannered when he is out on a walk, he loves his walks and is looking forward to springtime hoping he has his own special person to be out and about with enjoying the better weather. A bowl of food and some treats are always well received and Cookie also likes a snuggle after a walk and a snack, all he needs is for someone to come along who also wants all these simple pleasure in life.

Sharkie
Greyhound - Male - 3 years (Aug 2021)
This sweet and fun loving boy is Sharkie. He has joined us at Greyhound Rescue North East and is looking for his forever home. He enjoys going out for walks and is well mannered on his lead. He has fun outdoors exploring new environments and loves getting time off his lead to do his zoomies in the exercise yard – Sharkie would love a secure area outdoors at hi new home so he can have safe time outdoors. After all that fun in the open air Sharkie likes to curl up and have a nap in his comfy warm bed, these are all pass-times he will happily continue in his new home. Sharkie is an amazing happy, cuddly and loving boy who will make a wonderful attention to his new home.

Ruby
Greyhound - Female - 3 years (22 May 2021)
Like most of our dogs Ruby has come direct to Greyhound Rescue North East from the racing industry. She is settling in well to rescue life. She has a lovely sweet nature and will no doubt settle in just as well to life as a house dog. She likes having her crazy 10 minutes and peaceful naps. Ruby is friendly and just wants everyone to love her. She gets on well with other dogs and will make a fab addition to anyone’s family.

Jonny
Greyhound - Male - 3 years (May 2021)
Jonny is on the search for his forever home with someone who is ready to have a friend for life.
Jonny is an affectionate boy who has so much love to give. Jonny would like a home with a garden because he loves playing outside and after his initial zooming around he likes to relax and be made a fuss of. One of Jonny’s favourite things is tasty treats, taking them gently from your hand. He is a wonderful boy who just needs a chance to be loved and appreciated.

Dolly
Lurcher - Female - 2 years & 6 months
This is Dolly, a gentle but nervous soul who has so much love to give. She will thrive in a home where someone is patient and calm and gives her time to fall in love with them before they shower her with love and attention. Dolly enjoys going out for a walk and a bowl of nice food, she enjoys chilling in bed and will definitely take to the home comforts like relaxing on the sofa. This lovely lass has so much love to give and is just waiting for someone to give her a chance to be their forever friend.

Penny
Greyhound - Female - 4 years (March 2020)
Penny is the perfect dog. She has come to us directly from the racing kennels where she has spent her entire life and she has settled in almost instantly – she will be exactly the same when she gets the chance to move into a home. Penny is a clean and well behaved dog who enjoys meeting new people and making friends. She is friendly and affectionate and loves to be made a fuss of. She will settle into any home were she’s appreciated, loved and cared for.

Joe - Reserved
Greyhound - Male - 3 years (02.06.21)
Meet Joe, a friendly, happy lad who loves each day and takes everything in his stride. He has settled in quickly to retired life at the kennels and is always happy to see us… especially if we come with food – Joe adores his treats. He walks well on his lead and is clean in his kennel. Joe is full of fun and play but he’s also happy to snuggle up and be made a fuss of.

Bonnie - Reserved
Greyhound - Female - 3 years (19 Sept 2021)
Meet Bonnie, she is a typical friendly and affectionate girl who is looking for her forever home. She is an incredibly sweet girl and loves to have be made a fuss of, attention and cuddles from people are what she lives for. That and her food, she loves meal times and as many treats as she’s allowed. Bonnie has always lived at racing kennels until now so everything is new to her. When out on her lead she can be a little unsure of herself and responds well to being reassured – her confidence is growing by the day and the more she sees of the world the more she is getting used to life away as a pet dog. Bonnie enjoys to curl up and snooze in comfort and is hoping her forever home comes along soon so she can take her rightful place on the sofa.

Hugo - Homed
Greyhound - Male - 4 years (Nov 2020)
Hugo is a delightful, sweet boy who is on the lookout for his forever home. He has lived all his life at racing kennels and is happily adapting to retirement. Hugo has been called “hungry horse” by everyone who has looked after him because he has such an insatiable appetite – he really does love his food, and getting treats as well as his tasty daily meals is something that’s very important to Hugo. He walks beautifully on his lead and after a good walk, Hugo loves to curl up in a nice, warm bed to snooze the rest of the day away, having someone by his side during nap time would be a welcome addition. Hugo is a friendly lad who is confident meeting new people, he is also good friends with his kennel mates and is small dog tolerant. Hugo is such a soft, gentle boy and is delighted to receive as much attention and cuddles as someone can give him. Hugo just needs someone to come along who wants him.

Mags - Homed
Greyhound - Female - 6 years (Oct 2018)
Mags has had an unusually long racing career. She raced up until she turned 6 in October and is still very much full of life an energy. Mags has quickly adapted to retired life and although she is currently in our rescue centre kennels she has spent time at home with the Greyhound Rescue North East staff. She enjoyed being in a home, chilling on the sofa and going for walks, she particularly loved it when she got to visit the dog play park and run in an enclosed, safe environment – this made chilling out on the sofa even better after she had let off some energy. Mags would like a home where someone enjoys doing these activities with her and a garden where she can enjoy being outdoors. Food and meal times are an exciting time for Mags, she definitely loves her food and treats. She is a loving friendly character who will bring joy and fun and happiness to whoever is lucky enough to have her in their life.

Jill - Homed
Greyhound - Female - 4 years (Dec 2020)
Jill has just retired and is putting her day job behind her. She is settling into retirement with no problems. Although she has lived all her life in kennels, Jill is a very well mannered girl and seems to just know where to go when nature calls, she likes to keep her living space clean. She is perfect when she is out on a walk, walking nicely on her lead right beside you with the occasional glance up to receive some praise. She is happy meeting new people and getting attention but is also content to let the world go by without causing her any stress. Jill is enjoying her meals and is more than fond of the occasional treat. Snoozing and chilling out on her bed is probably her favourite pastime, she also enjoys a gentle ear rub. I’m sure when she realises she can combine the 2 on a sofa of her own Jill will think she has found paradise. Would you like to be the person to join Jill on the sofa after a nice spring walk?

Bernie - Homed
Greyhound - Female - 1 year (08 July 2023)
Bernie is a lovely, calm, affectionate young girl who has never raced. She is looking for a home, where she can enjoy spending time with her people, doing all things she loves like going for a nice walk followed by snuggle up on the sofa. She is good on her lead so walk time is a pleasure for everyone. Bernie enjoys being outdoors so she needs a home with outside space to enjoy some fresh air and freedom. More than all these things Bernie is just needing someone to fuss over her and possibly give her the odd treat.

Fleur - Homed
Lurcher - Female - 6 months
This baby girl is currently with foster carers. She is only 6 months old and needs someone who is going to be around most of the day to help her learn about the world and reinforce her training. Fleur is an absolute sweetheart, she is loving and well behaved, especially considering her age, she absolutely loves to play, of course she does, she’s a puppy and full of fun and life.
Fleur is looking for someone or a family who will enjoy supporting and reinforcing her training through to adulthood, this will won’t be hard work and will be constantly rewarded by Fleurs unconditional affection. Fleur is the perfect puppy and will grow into the perfect dog. Fleur enjoys socialising with other dogs and could happily live with another dog. She is energetic, and enjoys her walks, and will need a closed in space at home so she can enjoy some freedom outside. Fleur is just waiting on the right person to come along and form a lifelong connection with them. Who doesn’t want some puppy fun and love in their life?

Gem is a delightful, sweet girl on the lookout for her forever home. She has joined us at the Greyhound Rescue North East kennels and is enjoying retirement and her new relaxed life. Gem is a happy and friendly girl who goes out of her way to make new friends and spend time with her favourite humans., all she really wants out of life is someone to cuddle up to and shower her with lots of attention. Gem is a clean and well mannered girl who will adapt quickly to life as a pet and all the luxuries that come with it. She will make a welcome addition to any home, she just needs a chance.

Freddie - Homed
Lurcher- Male - 6 months
How cute is this boy? His name is Freddie and he’s still a puppy, full of puppy fun. He has a sweet, loving and curios nature. Freddie loves food and cuddles. As he is still a puppy playtime with his toys is a must for Freddie and he will need a home where there is secure space outside to play and enjoy fresh air and exercise. He needs someone around most of the day to help with his training and time alone will need to be built up gradually as he settles in. Freddie will brighten up any home and will make the most fantastic and loving best friend. He is sweet, loving and as you can see from his picture, absolutely gorgeous, who wouldn’t want him in their life?
